I never set out to be a hypnotist or a channel. I grew up going to church every Sunday, always filled with questions. But it was the 90s when my world cracked open—I don’t even know how Many Lives, Many Masters by Brian Weiss ended up in my hands, but when I read it, something inside me lit up. I had never considered past lives before, yet suddenly, it all made sense. I became obsessed with understanding more, feeling like I had stumbled upon something deeply important.
By 2007, I became a board-certified hypnotist, driven by the desire to explore past-life regression—not just for others, but for myself. Ironically, my own regression didn’t happen right away. I kept searching, listening to CDs, reading books, doing everything I could to access a past-life experience. Then, during my hypnotherapy training, it happened. I was simply listening to Stephen Halpern’s New Age music when, out of nowhere, I slipped into a past-life memory.
It was unmistakable—I wasn’t imagining it; I was experiencing it. My consciousness was split—I was both in the past and observing myself as Barb, thinking, Oh my God, this is happening. That moment changed everything.
I continued my hypnotherapy work, helping people navigate their subconscious and access deeper truths. But then, in 2009, something even bigger happened.
I became a channel.
It wasn’t subtle. It was dramatic. And I had no framework for it. I didn’t talk about it. I didn’t write about it. I barely understood it myself.
I tried finding a teacher, someone to explain what was happening to me. But nothing quite fit. Everything I learned, I had to figure out on my own. Messages started pouring in, and I began writing them down. Then, one day, I remember thinking, I’m tired of writing—can I just say it? That was the moment my spoken channeling began. At first, I’d sit alone and let the words flow, trying to capture them afterward. Slowly, I started doing readings for others.
I’ll never forget meeting Rita, another channel. We were introduced by someone—we don’t even remember who now—but when we met for breakfast at Panera, we talked for four hours straight. For the first time, I felt understood. Until that moment, I thought my life had to change completely. I half-expected I’d need to move to a mountain, wear a flowy caftan, and become some kind of monk. Instead, I realized I could still be me.
For years, I hesitated to share this side of myself. Channeling wasn’t mainstream like it is today. I wasn’t a medium—I didn’t “talk to the dead,” though spirits would sometimes come through if the message was important. What I did was different. The messages I received weren’t about predicting the future—they were about your soul. They came from a higher place, a broader perspective beyond this lifetime.
Even now, I see how people often think of their lives in small, limited frames. But when I channel, I see the vastness of it all—our past lives, the in-between spaces, the moments before and after we enter these human bodies. That’s the stuff that excites me.
Don’t get me wrong—I respect mediumship. If you need closure with your uncle, that’s important. But I’m here for something bigger. We are at a time of massive awakening, and I can’t stay quiet anymore.
My guides keep telling me: You are here to uplift humanity.
And they’re right.
I’ve looked back at the journals I wrote 15 years ago, and the messages are the same. Only now, they feel urgent. The world needs this information. And I need to stop hiding.
I’ve always had a playful, lighthearted side, but I thought spirituality had to be serious. Over the years, I’ve realized that humor is just as divine as anything else. It’s part of who I am, and it’s part of how I work.
So here I am, stepping forward. Whether through hypnosis, past-life regression, or channeling, my work is about expanding consciousness, shifting perspectives, and guiding people toward their soul’s truth.
