For most of my life, I didn’t realize that the discomfort I was feeling wasn’t just the way life had to be. I didn’t know that I was an highly sensitive empath with multiple food intolerances, and so I struggled to make sense of why I felt so bad.
In 2002, while training to become a massage therapist, I was introduced to energy work. My massage teacher told me that she thought I was an empath, and that was the moment my journey truly began. I had always known there was something more going on with my body and my emotions but energy work helped me see the deeper connections. I started trying different alternative medicine practices looking for answers to my own health challenges. I studied Massage, Acupressure, Reiki, Muscle Testing, NAET, The Emotion Code, The Body Code, Herbalism, Nutrition, Pendulum Dowsing, Manifesting techniques using the Law of Attraction, and Shamanic Journeying. I practiced what I learned on myself, family, friends, and massage clients learning as I went along.
I had lots to work on in myself because had struggled since I was a child (I was born in 1963) with a range of health conditions, including depression, anxiety, irritability, insomnia, low blood sugar, osteoporosis, dry and inflamed eyes, sinus issues, acne, bad breath, and digestion issues. Of course, I came down with COVID-19 in the first wave, developed long-hauler symptoms, and seemed to get every variant after that even though I was vaccinated. Through it all, I kept turning to alternative medicine practices. Today, I no longer deal with many of the issues that once plagued me. I credit the alternative medicine practices that I use for my recovery.
The experiences I’ve had with my own health have shaped how I approach life. I have compassion for others because I know what it’s like to be disconnected from well-being, and I know how powerful it can be to finally find a way to heal. That’s why I became a Reiki practitioner for my profession - I wanted to help others recover their well-being, just as I had. I’ve developed a deep understanding of how interconnected our physical, emotional, and spiritual health really is. I've been told by many people that my sessions are unique in that I help you to connect your physical illness to energetic, emotional, mental, and spiritual issues. I see it as all connected in the way that the ancient Celts did: "As above, so below; as within, so without."
When I’m not practicing Reiki, I love to explore creativity in different forms. I enjoy writing, teaching, and creating activities that bring people together. I live in the woods in Alaska with my beloved partner to whom I was led by intuitive practices. Dancing, singing, playing guitar, and being in nature are just some of the ways I like to stay connected to myself and the world around me.
My journey has been one of learning, healing, and embracing the power of Oneness to transform our lives. I’m grateful for everything that has brought me to where I am today and look forward to continuing to share the practices that have helped me.
